In between the assignments, the due dates, and the rushing routines, sometimes, you should be conscious enough to shut it all out. That’s how you show gratitude and love towards your body, your temple of your sacred energy.


Stress comes in a full package. The thoughts that you don’t have it all figured out, the overwhelming emotions, the busy lifestyle, and to top it all, the influence on our physical appearances. Therefore, practicing mindfulness in our actions is our medicine.


Nowadays, mindfulness is a really hot topic. We can label it as an awareness of the present moment. Personally, it has brought so much joy and contentment into my life.


Mindfulness is known and proven to have an impact on all areas of life: mental, spiritual, emotional, physical, professional, and all the graceful realms we’re taking part in. As I genuinely wish you an abundance of bliss in every aspect of your life, today I want to show you some of the numerous benefits of mindfulness on the skin.


You’re Totally Mindful and Present

Mindfulness is what you make it. A walk in the sunrises, some salsa steps in your laundry room, a sungazing moment, a yoga session in the afternoon, whatever you want to call it.


I don’t always sit in my room, waiting for the air to get fresher just so I can have a good 20-minute eyes-closed meditation. I find satisfaction in what I do daily. I've got this thing where I find my zen through my skincare routine. It's like my aura and moisturizers team up for a little self-care party—I like to call it our collaboration.


Mindfulness is the main character of this self-love ritual of mine. It also helps me make wiser choices about the products I find a sense of purity in envisioning empowerment spreading through my toners, moisturizers, and cleansers onto my skin. Sure, at times, I questioned whether I was being a bit out there, attributing the radiant energy on my face solely to a positive mindset.


That was until I found out that there exists something like psychodermatology: a discipline that suggests meditation, yoga, and multiple mindfulness practices to treat different skin conditions.


Mindfulness Slows Down Aging

Usually, purposeful journeys aren’t meant to last forever. But luckily, during these journeys, we are accompanied by delicate and unique friends, such as our personal avatars.


Skin is something to be celebrated through every step! A breathe-in, breathe-out process prevents the fine lines. Tension on the face is the most common cause of wrinkles. In a meditative state, you’ll notice your face muscles relaxing, giving you younger-looking skin.


Your Mood Changes

All the pressure we put on ourselves deserves an off button! Just taking time out of our busy schedules for ourselves is already a big step.


Watch how you step into enlightenment once you are committed to bettering your skin with the light that’s within you! A better mood means boosted confidence, and boosted confidence will have you experiencing those happy days you long for. I am living proof that confidence changes things. Because I have entered rooms thinking that I could do better, and I’ve entered rooms with the belief that I am my best self. And I’ve seen the difference.


Now try this affirmation as you’re going on about your day “I am glowing, my bright and powerful vibrations mirror through my eyes and my skin”, and see wonders happen as you hit those serotonin levels!


You’ll Be More Patient

Meaningful things take time. So does the healing. Let it be the healing of your skin. Let it be the healing of your heart.


Patience is the key to every significant achievement. You won’t be a spiritual guru the first time you give mindfulness a try, but you can start the path today because enlightenment is already in every one of us. The same happens with the process of trying out the new skincare product your dermatologist just suggested to you.


The magic happens little by little.


On a different note, you will come to realize that the pursuit is not merely for a smooth, clear, shiny complexion; rather, it is for the overall health of your skin. In prioritizing skin health, you will navigate through days with an enhanced sense of well-being.


You’ll start to see your physical appearance just as another part of you, a splendid one. Because that’s what occurs when you prioritize internal work. Things shift, and with everything else getting better, so does your skin.
